A Message from the Chair

The role of the City of Troy Democratic Committee is to recruit and support candidates for elected offices that represent the citizens of Troy, and to work with our democratic colleagues in Rensselaer County, New York state and the nation.

Last year, we successfully recruited candidates for all six City Council Districts and all six seats in the Rensselaer County Legislative District 1, representing the City of Troy. Sweeping the city council gave us a 7-0 Democratic majority with our Council President, reversing the 4-3 Republican majority. The first African American candidate was also elected to the Rensselaer County Legislature.

All candidates are active participants in our community. They worked hard and were rewarded for their efforts. Winning elections means that we can give a voice to the concerns, hopes and dreams of our constituents.

Our website, TroyNYDems.com is the easiest way to communicate with you. Please look for invitations to events, important meetings and opportunities to contribute your ideas and resources to the party's efforts.

Next up will be the races for Mayor and City Council in 2027. We will be recruiting potential candidates and committee members, the backbone of our organization. On our website will be information regarding the interview process for potential candidates.

At the end of the day, we want to build bridges and find common ground, cultivating hope and optimism for the future.

Laura Amos

Chair, City of Troy Democratic Committee
